Day 2: Bromont, Que to Manchester, NH
bj
It’s 9:30 am and we are already on the road! Leaving the bustling city (6K peeps) of Bromont, Quebec. Darn, I wanted to drive by the IBM manufacturing location before we left; we make chips and substrates here that are sold to computer manufacturers. Apparently they have about 1500 employees – that’s ¼ of the town population!
Breakfast at our hotel Le St. Martin, Bromont consisted of toast, coffee, juice, 2 hb eggs, cheese. We are now driving on Auto 55 and will hit the Canada/USA border. Sue, our Aussie gps lady keeps re-cal-cula-ting since we are continually losing signals (we are in the middle of mountains surrounded by miles and miles and miles and miles of evergreen trees – very very pretty; reminds us of BC; long windy roads). lots of lakes and rivers.
We just cleared US customs in less than a minute, probably thanks to my pre-clearance through the travelling Nexus card. We have decided to let Daniel, our British gps guide lead us to Manchester, New Hampshire, the next stop on our journey.
We meandered our way down to Manchester; arrived here around 1:30 ish. Found an amazing family restaurant called “Hart” featuring Turkey! It’s a family business started in the 1950’s when the Hart’s were Turkey farmers. Several generations later, they no longer raise turkeys, but they still focus the restaurant on turkey stuff. Dad had a hot turkey sandwich (with gravy, stuffing, squash, etc.) I had a turkey sandwich. We both had sweet potato fries yummy.
Then we wandered down to the New Hampshire mall where we did a wee bit of shopping. My yummies included 2 sleeveless summery/cocktail(ish) dresses and 2 pairs of shoes – a copper sandal the most adorable black “tuxedo” pumps.
We just checked into Ash Street Inn (B&B). Our innkeepers are Eric and Darlene Johnston. www.ashstreetinn.com. It’s a beautiful Victoria style house. Our room is on the first floor, it’s very pretty and comfortable.

Mom forgot to mention I was the one who spotted her new shoes and suggested she get them. I also got 3 new golf shirts all on sale for a grand 'total' of $ 54.00. Regular price over $ 150.00, wow what a deal, shopping at Macy's ain't so bad after all.
Out for dinner to a wonderful Italian restaurant called " Piccola's Italia " , great food and Mom ordered the lasagna and the portion was HUGE. My chicken and pasta was good as well, but normal size when compared to Mom's dinner. Lucky thing I ran my 4 miles this morning back at the hotel gym in Bromont.
Off to Kennebunkport Maine tomorrow, but were going to squeeze in a golf game tomorrow afternoon before arriving at our destination at Captain Jefferd;s Inn B& B.
The yanks here drive like maniacs on the highway. They all speed and like to hog the passing lane like they own it ! Anyway's get in some reading then to bed, because we are going to have a long day tomorrow.
