Thelma and Louise ....

I took the same route from Vancouver back Summerland that I took from Summerland to Vancouver.   While the fires (then) were away from the route that I would take if I went through Kamloops, I was more concerned about being heights challenged along the Coquihalla Highway.  Left Vancouver around 8:00 am and after several stops including Krauss Berry Farm to get blueberries and strawberries for Heather, and Stokes Corn for our dinner, I arrived in Summerland around 4:30 pm.  How cool is this Corn Drive-Thru You don't even have to get out of your car!   This (Sparks) corn is grown in Chilliwack (awesome!), but these Corn Drive Thru's are plentiful around the area. I made Chinese Dinner for us on August 24.  Here is Shalyn's Instagram message. Thelma and Louise headed to Banff on August 25.  This is the route we took Stayed at a cute B&B called the Holiday Lodge B&B My Room Breakfast We had dinner at the Grizzley House

Medicine Hat to Summerland -- 999 KM

Long, but very pretty drive from Medicine Hat to Summerland on July 29. Hard to believe that in a couple of days, I will be leaving Vancouver for my meandering journey back home.   Random thoughts:  3 weeks is a very long time to "hang out" with Popo.  We have been very busy accomplishing all the things in her annual "job jar for when Brenda comes".   Things like replanting various plants large and small, purging and cleaning drawers and closets that haven't been touched for a year.  Medical appointments -- eyes, memory assessments.   Patio purge (plants and junk).  Cooking and cleaning activities visiting Uncle Jim in the hospital (fell and broke his hip, surgery to repair and now in rehab),  shopping, dining with Andrew, Erra and the girls, visiting the Berry Farm with Andrew and family... Visits to Gerri and Graeme at Sunset; spending time with your cousins and their significant others and children (no kids yet for 4 Jenn and Kevin), perhaps

Brandon Manitoba through Saskatchewan and into Medicine Hat Alberta

Long drive today, but I basically saved  half a day :)   Still not too much traffic on the road, still construction delays, still few transport trucks, but I did notice that many of them are tandem so they are hauling a twin trailer and a large part of the road separates so you don't see much of the eastbound traffic.  Lots and lots of glampers, RVs, people hauling boats. My route for today Beautiful sunny day, not many clouds in the sky as I left Brandon this morning.  Temperature was around 23 degrees at 8:30 am when I hit the road.   Reached 34 degrees by the time I was mid-Saskatchewan. Observations Manitoba: Acres and acres and acres of canola fields.  Many are in flower right now.  Bright greeney yellow on both sides of the road as far as you can see.  Feels like you are enveloped in sunshine :) Another treat was to see blooming lavender fields.  This picture thanks to google but you get the drift.    So patches of bright greeney yellow beside bluish l
