Cape Town Day 2

Hi Babes short blog tonite  1 bottle of wine and an amazing african dinner later-  Today was another very packed day that started with bfst at 7  and on the bus by 8:15-  Not using the keyboard today so yet another challenge to figure out how to use the tablet :) Today we explored the cape peninsula  Not  going to have a chance to see table mountain  too foggy and gale force winds-  ALas no pictures yet as internet here is really slow and i cant download to picasa  Also went to Cape Point Nature reserve saw ostrich, antelope, and penguins.  Very windy today  not a good combo to keep the hair looking decent.  Oh well, we are on vacay after all, and will probably never see these peeps again so  just going with the flow!  A challenge for dad, he will tell you all about the chatty anoying person who basically invited herself to dinner and changed dads reservation.  Need i say Anyhoo  heading upstairs to bed.  Need to be up at 5 Suitcases outside our room at 6 for departure at 7.  Not

Cape Town

Hi Babes Just back from a wonderful dinner at Martin's Thumb seafood restaurant.   We had yummy calimari appetizers and fish.  Food is very cheap here! Luggage arrived last nite so all is good :) Today was a very packed day.  Breakfast at 7 and on the bus by 8:15, back at 5:30, lecture on the history and culture of South Africa, and dinner reservations at 7:30, back now at 9:30, blog at 10 .. and hopefully in bed by 10:30.  Another full day starting with bfst at 7 and on the bus again at 8:15 tomorrow. Today was a trip to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandella was imprisoned for 16 years.  A 30 minute boat ride to the island; felt like we were on a roller coaster!  Our tour started with a 45 minute bus ride around the island to see the town.   There are about 200 people who live on the island which is now a national museum.  The people who live and work there are government employees and former prisoners who are tour guides. 3 Travel Days later....

Hi Babes Flights from Toronto to Frankfurt uneventful.  Spotted a few travellers from U of T travelling to Frankfurt from Toronto.   You could id them from the baggage tags on their carry-on, avoided them... There's a Mr & Mrs Tilley in all their travel attire ;)  And a lady from Pickering who loves to hear herself talk.  Someone for Dad to keep entertained :)  Checked into the Sheraton hotel and had a nice nap, shower, relaxed.   Then back to the airport for the next leg ... Johannesburg.  12 hours later we arrive and collect our bags and transfer them to South African Airlines for the 2 hour trip to Cape Town.  Rain here, about 16 C so no tanning weather yet. Dad's bags didn't arrive; sitting in the lobby now to do this post. Hopefully it will arrive later so we can go to bed.  Early breakfast and be on the bus by 8;15 to go to Robbin Island tomorrow morning.  This is where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 16 of the 27 years he was in prison.   It will be intere
